Ford Park is a popular sporting precinct and playground in the suburb of Bellfield. With a long history of local sporting use, it has now (2020 - 2021) received a major upgrade, especially to cater for some of the sporting groups displaced by the major works associated with the North East Link roadworks.
The works completed in October 2021 include a major new sporting pavilion, redevelopment and upgrade of one of the two ovals to AFL standards, and a number of associated sport and exercise facilities. While the major works have been completed in October, a formal opening of the new facilities has been delayed until there are sufficient relaxation of COVID restrictions.
This cache is installed to recognize the significant achievements in the provision of the new community sporting facilities. It is in the quieter part of the park, but sitting on the nearby seat gives a good view of the new pavilion. BYO pen.
