A simple multi to encourage folk to explore an underutilised access point into Banks Peninsula. Although steep the climb up through the farm is interesting as nature is slowly taking over.
This area is a protected reserve as the result of retiring the land from farming and allowing it to return to its natural state. This section of land connects others portions of protected land creating a contiguous area creating a spine along this segment of Banks Peninsula. Abundant native birds will spread the seed of the pockets of native plants that exist providing further habitat for native animals. Addtioanlly this land is the head waters for one of the many streams that feeds Lake Ellesmere; it is hoped that water quality will improve.
