Geocache Description:

13 November 2021, 09:30 - 11:30

The Cascadian Chapter of the WSGA will hold a CITO event on November 13, at 0930 hrs. to pick up roadside trash along the Monument Hill Road NE of Quincy, WA.

What to bring: You and your friends, good foot ware, gloves, grabbers, and appropriate clothing for the weather.

What will be provided: Trash bags and disposable gloves. Full trash may be left alongside the road and will be picked up when the event is over. In addition, water and pastry items should be there also.

Trash pickup sections will be marked off at 1/4-mile intervals. Participants will be given a section to collect and fill their trash bag(s).

How will this CITO event happen, the game plan.

At the staging area, participants will be issued trash bags, (Take more than one). Participants will also receive a tag showing the starting place of the road section where you will begin picking up roadside litter.

At the beginning of your section there will be stakes on each side of the road with the mileage marker where you are to begin litter clean up for that section. If you are doing that section by yourself or with a partner(s), I would suggest you clean up one side of the road up to the next ¼ mile stake and come back down the other side of the road to your point of beginning.

At the beginning of your section there will be two distinct colors of flagging ribbons or tape at each ¼ mile marker stakes. One color is for the start of that section. Remove that color of tape. When you get to the end of your assigned section, remove the other colored flagging tape, this indicating to others you or y0our team has cleaned that section of roadway.

Baren stakes without any flagging tape left on them, will show that portion of the road right of way was cleared of litter by someone else.

Not knowing who may show up for this CITO event, we may have to leapfrog ¼ mile road sections along the road after you have cleaned up your assigned section. You need to go past all the others cleaning up their section and start at the next section, starting colored ribboned stake.

Example: You are in the first group, and you have finished cleaning your section. There are four other groups cleaning up the next four sections of road right of way. You need to go to the next ¼ mile marker beyond the last of the four other groups to start your next clean up.

If you haven’t attended a CITO or logged GC8NEAT, there is still time to earn souvenirs for both. Cachers have until the end of 2021 to earn the GC8NEAT souvenir and until the end of November 2021 to earn the CITO 2021 Season 2 souvenir. Take a look at some of the ways geocachers have improved their environment so far in 2021 with GC8NEAT and CITO:
