A little roadside intersting spot. A stone painted to look like a tortoise. The history of this painted rock is not known. Apparantly it was painted by a couple in 1955. Their daughter is still alive and will not elaborate except to say that it is a sad story.
Well, we have a lovely space to place a cache and enjoy an interesting find. Find parking by driving from White River to Nelspruit on the R40, pass the cache co ordinates and turn off at the Bundu Lodge entrance. On the left you will find a spot to park and walk up back to the Tortoise.
As per usual, my grandson has made the cache and you would be able to find a much smaller cache made by my granddaughter. For a little fun, see if you can spot both. The little one will have cuter swag. To get the log, it is only neccessary to sign one of the logs.
Please be careful, the incline is a bit steep and slippery when wet, the road is also very busy. Also as is usual in the Lowveld, please be careful of snakes, ticks and insects that bite. A stick works well to hit the grass to warn of your approach.
Enjoy this cache.
