ATTENZIONE! 

Il final si trova a circa 2,5 km dallo stadio virtuale, raggiungibile in auto, difficilmente raggiungibile a piedi (richiederebbe un tratto di percorrenza a lato Statale del Sempione). Il parcheggio a g.z. è possibile ma limitato e da effettuare con attenzione visto il poco spazio a disposizione e l'elevata velocità delle auto che passano.

The cache is located about 2.5 km from the virtual stadium, reachable by car. It's difficult to reach on foot, it would require walking on the side of the main road. Parking at g.z. needs attention, given the limited space available and the high speed of the cars passing near there.

RIGUARDO LA CACHE

La sponda piemontese del Lago Maggiore è stata teatro di numerosi scontri durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale, essendo luogo di "incontro" tra diverse fazioni.

I tedeschi sfruttarono alberghi e ville come propri quartieri di stazionamento, le colline circostanti ospitavano gruppi di partigiani. La zona, in quanto meta turistica, si prestava ad accogliere fuggitivi.

Nei waypoints vengono ricordati due episodi significativi. Presso il Grand Hotel Victoria Palace di Meina si è compiuto nel settembre 1943 uno dei primi eccidi dell'epoca. All'ex imbarcadero di Solcio, nel marzo 1945, si compì una rappresaglia, pochi mesi prima della fine della guerra.

Sia il Grand Hotel Meina che l'ex imbarcadero di Solcio sono stati abbattuti ed ospitano piacevoli punti panoramici sul lago. Oggi possiamo, ricordando il passato, godere della bellezza di questi luoghi.

ABOUT THE CACHE

The Piedmontese shore of Lake Maggiore was the scene of numerous clashes during the Second World War, being the place of "meeting" between different divisions.

The Germans used hotels and villas as headquarters, the surrounding hills housed groups of partisans. The area, as a tourist destination, could host fugitives.

Two significant episodes are commemorated in these waypoints. One of the first slaughter of the time took place in September 1943 at the Grand Hotel Victoria Palace in Meina. At the former Solcio pier, in March 1945, was accomplished a retaliation, a few months before the end of the war.

Both the Grand Hotel Meina and the former Solcio pier have been demolished and host pleasant panoramic views over the lake. Today we can, remembering the past, enjoy the beauty of these places.
