The Monroe County Geocaching series aims to connect residents and visitors to natural areas that have been permanently protected with funds from the County Open Space Bond. Top of the Mtn Kids Cache located at the Maple Preserve is one of six Regional Kids Caches focused on one of the key principles of geocaching... if you take something leave something. Adventurous little ones can enjoy the hunt for this "treasure chest" style cache, filled with small tokens, and may select one item to take home. Participants are encouraged to contribute to the chest, leaving behind a token that is 1-2 inches in size for the next kid to find. Please remember: When replacing cache, hide it as you found it so the next person can enjoy the hunt!
Property Info - The location of this kids cache is just the beginning of a 640 acre nature preserve! Owned by the Wildlands Conservancy, it provides development protection to the Long Pond Macrosite, one of the most biologically diverse areas in the eastern US. These lands adjoin preserved lands to the west, reaching PA Route 115 and beyond. This preserve is chock full of trails, so bring your mountain bike or hiking boots, and spend the day exploring the unique landscape of the Pocono Plateau.
