Geocaching Official Cache In Trash Out Logo

Cache In Trash Out® (CITO) is an environmental initiative supported by the geocaching community. Since 2002, CITO has helped preserve the natural beauty of cache-friendly spaces. In that time, more than 363,000 people have volunteered at 18,000 CITO events.

Twice per year, geocachers can earn virtual souvenirs by attending events during the CITO seasons. Season 2 officially kicked off on the 1st of September so here is your chance to do something good for the environment and also earn a souvenir in case you haven't done so already.

Event Details

Hays Inlet Conservation Park 2 is an nature reserve located in Clontarf where native plants and animals are protected and are able to thrive. Thanks to the volunteers from the Redcliffe Environmental Forum bushcare group, massive restoration of native vegetation has taken place, and there are now a large variety of native flora including habitat trees for koalas where invasive species previously had control.

However, due to the proximity to industrial sites bordering the reserve, rubbish is a never-ending concern. For this CITO event we will be collecting the rubbish in the reserve, focusing on the fenceline where the majority of rubbish is located. This will prevent the rubbish from blowing further into the reserve and ending up in the local waterways. If you prefer to do some weeding, there are plenty of invasive species that need removing.

Please Note: There is a log placed on the track along the fenceline towards the CITO site. This has been placed by council to prevent dirt bikes. If you are unable to step over this log we can direct you to the left side of the reserve instead.

When: 28th November at 8:00AM. You are welcome to stay as long as you like.
