Geocache Description:

Welcome to the  A.S. in Geocaching: Respect Wildlife cache.  This cache was placed by Tompkins Cortland Community College (TC3) Outdoor Recreation students to educate people about one Leave No Trace method to secure your food from animals when camping as a way to respect wildlife.  To succefully find this cache, you must first understand the basics of hanging a "bear bag".  Use these links to learn about this method of food storage when camping in the backcountry.

From the parking area, do yourself a favor and hike on the mowed areas as you approach the cache.  There is an easy access path that will lead you right to the location of the cache.  You will not need to, nor should you, climb any trees, cut anything or throw anything to find this cache.  Once you find the cache, be sure to put it back in the proper location based on the method described in the links above and leave it where and how you found it. There is a FTF (First to Find) token available in this cache as well as several Leave No Trace "Geocaching" hang tags that review the 7 principles of LNT for geocachers.
