A few years ago the Loxton-Waikerie Council significantly upgraded the system of drains and pipes around Loxton in order to improve the capture of storm water and to reduce flooding. As part of this huge project approximately five dams were built to help with the storage of storm water. The dams are connected and water can be moved around between them as required. The entire project has really helped the council to become more water efficient and the storage dams also provide a haven for ducks and other wild life.
