Pădurea Slivuț este o arie protejată de interes național (rezervație naturală, de tip botanic), situată în partea de nord a oraşului Haţeg, inclusă în Geoparcul Dinozaurilor “Ţara Haţegului”.
Cu o suprafață de 40 ha, situată în apropierea orașului Haţeg, Pădurea Slivuț reprezintă un ecosistem natural cu quercinee xeroterme, rest al unor întinse suprafețe de pădure inițială de stejari, dar care au fost defrișate datorită extinderii activităților agricole specifice pentru zonele colinare de pe raza depresiunii Haţegului. Din anul 1958, în zona s-a creat în această pădure o rezervație de zimbrii. În prezent, Direcția Silvică Deva prin Ocolul Silvic Hațeg, deține custodia acestei rezervații naturale.
La 3 km de oraşul Hateg pe DN66, se găseşte renumita rezervaţie de zimbri, prima locaţie de pe teritoriul României în care a fost reintrodus zimbrul european (Bison bonasus), dispărut din fauna ţării după anul 1852.
Cutia se află amplasată pe drumul ce face lagătura, prin pădure, dintre DN 66 (E 79) şi Rezervaţia de zimbri Haţeg, gândită a vă face drumul mai interesant şi să merite efortul de a veni până aici.
Info bonus: în apropiere se mai poate vizita şi Cetatea Regală a Haţegului, un monument important uitat, o fortificație de dimensiuni reduse, fiind compusă dintr-un donjon, un zid de incintă și un șanț de apărare în formă de potcoavă. În 2014, Asociația Drag de Hațeg a marcat traseul către Cetatea Regală a Hațegului, plecarea făcându-se tot din parcarea Popasului Zimbrul, iar drumeţia este una uşoară, de circa 2 ore

Slivuț Forest is a protected area of national interest (natural reservation, of botanical type), located in the northern part of Haţeg town, included in the Dinosaurs Geopark “Ţara Haţegului”.
With an area of 40 ha, located near the town of Haţeg, Slivuț Forest is a natural ecosystem with xerothermic quercin’s, the rest of large areas of initial oak forest, but which have been cleared due to the expansion of specific agricultural activities on the hilly areas in the vicinity of Haţeg depression. Since 1958, an European bison reserve has been created in the area of this forest. Currently, the Deva Forestry Directorate through the Hațeg Forest District, holds custody of this nature reserve.
At a distance around 3 km from the Hateg town, on National Road 66, there is the famous bison reserve, the first location in Romania where the European bison (Bison bonasus) was reintroduced, disappeared from our country's fauna after 1852.
