Geocache Description:

30 November 2021, 15:00 - 16:00

CITO (Cache In Trash Out ®) Events are a way for the geocaching community to take care of the natural areas we enjoy while geocaching.

Cache In Trash Out is an ongoing environmental initiative supported by the worldwide geocaching community. Since 2002, geocachers around the world have been dedicated to improving parks and other cache-friendly places. Through these volunteer efforts, we help preserve the natural beauty of our outdoor resources!

Geocachers around the world celebrate International Cache In Trash Out seasons annually by hosting and participating in Cache In Trash Out Events in their local area. Events might be focused on litter clean-up, removal of invasive species, revegetation efforts or building trails. Together, we make an enormous positive impact and have a bit of fun while we're at it.

This year we in Ireland couldn’t participate the CITO spring season due to lockdown and the autumn season finishes today. Last chance to earn your CITO season 2 souvenir for this year. There will also be the opportunity to log the locationless cache GC8NEAT, locationless caches have their own icon and there are only 2 available, this one is only available until 31st December this year.

The event

When - Tuesday 30 November

Time - 15.00hrs

Where - The posted coordinates

We will meet at the posted coords and clean up the green area nearby.. The council have suggested this area and having done a recce visit it really isn’t too bad, just tins and cans really.

What to Bring

Well, first of all - bring yourself! Bring the family. And a friend. Neighbours too - we're not proud. If bringing children, however, please consider whether you feel this activity is really suitable or safe for them. Please err on the side of caution, as litter clean-up can be hazardous for anyone, not least children

Other things to bring

Work or Garden Gloves (We will have some of these)

A litter picker, if you have one

Appropriate footwear

Rainwear, if appropriate

A First Aid kit mightn't be a bad idea

What will be provided

AnTaisce's National Spring Clean initiative has provided a good supply of refuse bags and a few pairs of gardening gloves. Cork County Council will dispose of the litter collected at the end of the event.

Afterwards, we'll put our mountain of trash together and take a photo, as is the time-honoured CITO tradition.

There might be biccie cake afterwards too
