There was a pen placed in the cache but bring your own just in case!
The large numbers painted on the end of a runway is the compass bearing to the nearest 10° with the last digit truncated. So, the numbers at Dunedin airport are 03 and 21 which means, when approaching the runway from the south the runway bearing is closest to 30° and from the other direction it is 210°. The numbers at all airports therefore range from 01 to 36.
