Come take a stroll along a very historic part of Clear Creek, and home to this brand new section of Peaks to Plains trail. The cache can be accessed along the Welch Ditch Trail across the river. The new trail runs in a loop, fastest access will be by crossing the bridge and hiking up the very steep stairs to access the Welch Ditch Trail, and a path on the old Flume that runs up along the creek. Easier access is by hiking up the trail on the North side of Clear Creek until you cross over the river via suspension bridge, walking along the flume, and navigating the steep stairs at the end. I've come across a few flumes over the years, but this is a one of kind and in great shape. Please re-hide the container well so it's not visible to muggle traffic. WINTER WARNING: Please make sure you have adequate footware, preferably Yak Traks or Microspikes. The steep stairs that lead up to the Welch Ditch Flume Trail from the east are extremely treacherous with snow packed and icy conditons, please be safe! PRO TIP, move counter clockwise.
