I hid a new cache while out hiking on Black Friday last year and this year we were out on the trails again on the day after Thanksgiving. This time I came up the Mount Wilson Trail to perform maintenance on another cache and had a new container with me just in case. It turned out I didn't need to replace the other container so I figured I might as well hide the new one.
It's a basic hide but it's a bit of a hike to get to it. The Mount Wilson Trail is challenging and even experienced hikers may huff and puff a bit while going up. Once you are close you'll see that the direct route to GZ is pretty loose dirt. I went a little further up the trail where I saw some trail maintenance tools, went up and crossed over to GZ on higher ground. It was pretty easy and didn't cause any unnecessary erosion.
The cache starts off with a buck for FTF and a travel bug too. As always when you're caching in the forest be safe and poke before you grab. Bring plenty of water for the hike too.
