As I was headed out to do a routine maintenance check on two of my caches in the Davis Mountains, (GC3PNM2 - Sky Viewers and GC2PNQP - Abject Failure) I stopped at this new, to me, rest area on the westbound side of I-10 past Ft Stockton. I got to chatting with the senior maintainer of the facility and grounds. This rest area has been open for 4 years. It is a nice oasis on this western stretch of I-10.
I chatted with the gentleman about geocaching. He had heard of it and no, he had no objections to putting a cache anywhere in the many acres of property there. He did suggest that I not put it near or in or under any rocks. Seems that there are slithery creatures with noisy tails that tend to occupy those areas. I took him at his word.
Nothing fancy about the cache. It is a large bison with a logbook and if you are careful, you can fit a trackable or small SWAG items in there but it will be a squeeze.
I have left several EXTAGZs for anyone that wants them. EXTAGZs are collectible or they can be traded. They are NOT trackable. Keep 'em or throw them in the next cache you visit.
You are looking for a Large Bronze Bison "Tube." You will know exactly where to look when you get to the coordinates
