This original geocaching is offered to you by Balkan Hotspot, a non lucrative organisation. This project is part of a project to discover volunteering by getting to know our volunteers thanks to geocaching. Each cache represents one volunteer : The localisation is related to them and the text will present them.
Let’s begin the volunteer hunt !
I’m Isciane, 22 years old, French girl from Lille, in the north of the country. I’m volunteer for Balkan Hotspot for 6 month. I’m writing articles and helping to correct them. I'm also in charge of a magazine that we do and of the newsletters sent each month. I’ve participated in many workshops and I’ve been a volunteer to help refugees.
I’ve a vision of the world where I want to help anyone that needs it in any way I can. I feel completely attracted to the perspective of helping others. This is why I’ve chosen to be a volunteer. But I also wanted to get out of my everyday life and my comfort zone, to find myself so I chose long term. And this project with journalism makes me do something I like. Maybe someday I will be both a game designer and a journalist.
Volunteering was the most meaningful thing that I could do, and I don’t regret it. I really like the freedom of choosing what we want to do and that no one considers that I'm not legitimate to do things. And I've real missions with responsibility, even if I haven’t studied this domain. I’m here for 2 month and I’ve already learn so many things ! How to lead interviews, to edit and shoot videos, to write an article, do SEO and even draw better ! But the most important thing I’ve learned is to live with other people.
I really like the place where history happened, where a lot of time has been spent, that’s why I really like uppertown with the old walls, the fortification. There are also colorful taverns over there, but it’s quite a maze over there but I still like it !
If you see me, I will probably play with my nose piercing and make weird and funny faces. But I can also make my eyes not look in the same direction, this is quite a skill. And another funny thing about me, I’m super talented to hide things but I never find them back after.
