Kadina Cemetery is a heritage listed cemetery, with it being listed on the South Australian Heritage Register on 28th of November 1985. The cemetery was originally adjacent to Drakn road, close to the cache at the trotting track (K.B Bailey). In September of 1861 the first occupant was buried there; however, the cemetary was soon relocated to its present site and the graves were shortly reburied due to concerns about its original location. The Kadina Cemetary had been established to replace an earlier cemetary at Wallaroo Mines, in this location 28 bodies had been laid to rest. In March 1862, the remains were ordered to be removed by mines manager, Gavin Young, to the new Kadina Cemetery as the old cemetery was likely to be encroached upon by the mines. It is not known how many graves were actually removed.

A management committee was established in January 1866, but a fire in 1867 destroyed all the cemetery's early records. Cemetery records now date from 26 October 1867. The mortuary was built by Thomas Robert Heath in 1875. Paths were laid out and trees planted around this time, while the cemetery had already been encircled by a stone wall.
