Hello! This cache is part of the Cazenovia cache series, a partnership complying of me and my friends joshtrails, Aidanfluteplayer, and my brother Jimmytrumpetplayer. It is our mission for us to place as many caches in Caz as possible, and to bring people to places in our wonderful town they wouldn't have known about without Geocaching.
This cache is placed in honor of the 65,000th find for a fellow cacher and friend, LCSM. She started Geocaching in December of 2005. She only found few caches in her first year, but in 2008, her find rate inproved drastically, and by 2009, she adveraged well over 1,000 caches a year. She is as serious about the game as you get, but she went on to spread her knowlage and experience to newcomers and younger cachers. I first met her when she was on an FTF run on one of my first caches, which was a partnership multi with my friend Josh. We found good spots for both containers, but when we went home to publish the cache, we forgot to write down the coordinates to put in stage 1. We submitted the cache anyways, and josh went home, and after dinner about half an hour later, I went back to stage 1 to put the coordinates in, and on the way to the cache, I saw L looking for stage 2. It turns out that the reviewer (who at the time was NYA) was really on the ball, and published our cache within an hour of submission. I walked over to have a chat with her, confused about how she was able to get the coordinates for stage 2 without them in the first stage. It turns out that she was smart enough to read the hint, and was able to locate the cache without the coordinates. This is a perfect example of her knowlage of the game, and it always struck me as funny how she was able to figure that out so quickly. She has been a valubale resource to me, and is easy to approach if I have any questions or ideas to bounce off of someone. She has taught me a lot about the game, and helped ease me into the world of Geocaching. Without people like her, it would make it a lot harder for newbies like I once was to figure out how the game works. My thanks to you, and congratulations on this milestone. I'm sure there will be many more thousands of finds to come in these coming years.
This cache is located on the Gorge trail, one of my favorite places to go running on in the summer. It is about a mile round trip to the cache, and should be a plesant walk. You are looking for a Golden .50 cal ammo can, about 20 feet off the trail. The original contents of the cache were some playing cards, some trinkets and a unique FTF prize. Do NOT attempt to get to the cache from the road!
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me via the message center or E-mail. Good luck, and happy caching!
