The Buda Public Library
The Buda Public Library (BPL) is a, well, public library that was established in downtown Buda in the summer of 2018. However, that is not the original date of establishment; the original BPL started as a shelf in the city hall of Buda sometime during the 1970s. In need of a true "Buda Library," the Buda Community Women's Club worked to raise money to build a full-fledged library for the then small town of Buda. With enough effort in the right place, the BPL was given its first building on April 1st of 1980 with an ordinance passed by the Buda City Council. The building was built where the current library stands: a Butler building that was in use for only nine years. The library was relocated to the previous building on Main Street—a beautiful limestone building built in 1993. The library made its final move in November of 2014, when the city voted to merge all of the city's organizations into one building: the Municipal Complex. The building was completed in 2018 and gave the BPL 4 times as much space as the previous building, allowing for the collection of books and community to expand.
Mission Statement
