Ten millions of people in South America, it is estimated, are constant users of the beverafje, verba mate. But to many people in the United States the drink is either unknown or not liked. Now comes the food chemist, who, taking dry mate leaves as a basis, prepares a delicious summer beverage. He removes the hitter tang, which few .Vinericans enjoy, adds certain well-liked ingredients, and combines them with the life-giving properties of the natural mate leaf, and the result is Matteen. This beverage, originally placed on the market in New Jersey, has under other names e.xtended its sale to various States. The Pan-American Company opened a bottling plant in Wenonah (in the woods just on the opposite side of the railroad tracks. The building served at other times as a soap factory and as "the pill factory".
Cache is located by the remains of an old railroad bridge abutment. No need to disturb any stones to find this one.
Wenonah Woods is open dawn to dusk, 365 days a year. Please respect the hours on these trails, especially as they often times pass right along the edges of people's property. Also, please use official trailheads and do not cut through people's property. These trails have some ups and downs, as well as some wet spots, although the town does an amazing job of maintaining them.
