Geocache 2 – Karankawa and Early Indigenous People
After six millennia (6000 years) of sea-level rise, Mustang Island appeared in its present location and form - approximately 5000 years ago. It was a place where the Karankawa and earlier Indigenous People hunted, fished, and found a seasonal home.
Weapons and tools were made with flints and shells. A good flint could produce a spear point or arrowhead. Flint knaps or discarded flint pieces are common in South Texas. Shells were used to make small tools for scraping and sewing. Take one item to remember the first residents of this land.
Please do not damage, destroy, or remove this Geocache™
