Near McCreary Lake the Loop Trail closely follows a creek (called Arroyo Aguague Branch Creek on the Joseph D Grant Map). Along this trail is an interesting many trunked tree. I was trying to count the trunks, but was starting to lose count (is that a trunk or a branch?). The cache is located at the many trunked tree.
You may need to take a big step up to access the cache. But it is close to the trail, on the side of the trail away from the creek, and no bushwhacking required.
I placed this cache on a cool, winter day while doing a loop hike from Twin Gates Trailhead. Grant Lake Trailhead is a closer option for parking.
