The Cleermont Trailhead is one of several trailheads to the extensive network of trails on Land Trust North Alabama's Monte Sano Preserve. Join me for a quick meet-and-greet followed by a constitutional hike in the Monte Sano Preserve where it is rumored to be very difficult to hike due to the tripping hazard presented by a great number of geocaches. As the Cleermont Trailhead has very limited parking, the event portion will be held at Starbucks in the medical district and, since SARS-COV-2 seems to be making a nuisance of itself again and Starbucks is usually very strict about distancing, don't be surprised if we are meeting in the parking lot. The event log will be open from 08:00 to 08:30 after which those that want to continue on the constitutional can carpool to the Cleermont Trailhead. My truck can seat four (besides me) as passengers and many more as baggage so I'm happy to taxi a group to the trail and back.
I have mapped out a rather circuitous route involving the Sinkhole Trail, Alms House Trail, Railroad Bed Trail, Fagan Springs Trail, and Watts Trail that will take me just over 3 miles. Many of the trails on Monte Sano can be very challenging and I'm not familiar with these trails, but my route shows only 315 ft of elevation gain so I don't expect it to be difficult. Of course, depending on the consensus, that route may change or you may choose to go your own way.
