Histoire de Ardilleux
La Motte-Tuffeau (ou Motte-Tuffaud), située en limite de la commune, 40 m de diamètre, 20 m de haut, a été fouillée en 1971 par Raimond Proust. Il y a trouvé au sommet les restes de substructions d'un donjon carré, avec à chaque angle, une saillie arrondie marquant probablement les fondations d'une tour.
Une charte de Saint-Hilaire de Poitiers, en 990, signale la dotation de deux maisons avec vignes, prés, vergers, terres arables et dépendances, par Folcon à sa fiancée Alba, dans le hameau qui deviendra le bourg d'Ardilleux.
Dès 1652, Ardilleux avait un maître d'école.
En 1744, la paroisse comprenait huit domaines. On y trouvait un moulin à vent.
L'église Saint-Junien dépendait de l'abbaye de Nouaillé. Vendue pendant la Révolution et convertie en grange, elle fut restaurée en 18663.
Le 1er janvier 2019, elle fusionne avec Bouin, Hanc et Pioussay pour constituer la commune nouvelle de Valdelaume dont la création est actée par un arrêté préfectoral du 26 juin 2018

History of Ardilleux
La Motte-Tuffeau (or Motte-Tuffaud), located at the edge of the town, 40 m in diameter, 20 m high, was excavated in 1971 by Raimond Proust. There he found at the top the remains of the substructures of a square keep, with at each angle, a rounded projection probably marking the foundations of a tower.
A charter of Saint-Hilaire de Poitiers, in 990, indicates the endowment of two houses with vineyards, meadows, orchards, arable land and outbuildings, by Folcon to his fiancée Alba, in the hamlet which will become the village of Ardilleux.
As early as 1652, Ardilleux had a schoolmaster.
In 1744, the parish included eight estates. There was a windmill there.
The Saint-Junien church depended on the Nouaillé abbey. Sold during the Revolution and converted into a barn, it was restored in 18663.
On January 1, 2019, it merged with Bouin, Hanc and Pioussay to form the new municipality of Valdelaume, the creation of which was recorded by a prefectural decree of June 26, 2018
