Geocache Description:

30 January 2022, 10:00 - 14:00

Quick update on local CiTOs:

If you've been to one of my previous CiTOs then you'll be used to popping up to Pinner - the plan is still to do more there, but so impressed with the attendances at the last couple of events that word has spread and now we're being invited all over the place around this area to help out with environmental projects. Indeed, if any other cachers would like to host some CiTOs up in this area just get in touch with me and I'll pass along your contact details as at least on several occasions we've not had a CiTO because I've been unavailable to host.

So this CiTO marks our first trip up to the Stanmore area to work with the volunteer groups around here. Expect a few more CiTOs around this area in the coming months, and I'm hopeful we might even get some events with optional wading set up for the end of March on Stanmore Marsh.

This event:

This marks the first event in Wood Farm, a fairly new park and nature reserve which was only taken over by the local council in 2015. There's probably geocaches nearby which are older than that! We'll be assisting the volunteers with cutting and layering of hedges, as well as a general litter pick.

The event will run from 10 am until 2 pm, which a lunch break at 12 which will hopefully be held in the Old Dairy, which is now a visitor's centre for the site. Remember to bring your own packed lunch/drinks.

There is a car park on-site, and if you're coming by Underground train then the Jubilee line terminates in Stanmore. To reach Wood Farm from there, you can either walk up through Stanmore Country Park (they're directly adjacent) or catch the 142 Bus towards Watford and get off at the Little Common stop. Likewise, if you're coming from Watford, then the 142 bus is your best bet. It's about a 10-minute walk to the park from those bus stops.

Also if it's a clear day, make sure to go to the viewpoint in the park, which gives you a wonderful view across northwest London.
