Geocache Description:

This cottage lies at a beautiful location overlooking the river Almond. The cache is in the corner closest to the view.
I hope you enjoy the cache!

What you see in front of you is the remains of a cottage said to belong to Jock Howieson. Jock Howieson is in Sir Walter Scott’s series about the history of Scotland (Tales of a Grandfather). You can continue walking downstream (towards Cramond) and you will come past some more stone cottages, weirs and caches! These buildings are what are left of the water powered mills which made things such as spades, furniture and paper.
