Localizado em Coimbra, num complexo de dois edifícios com uma área total superior a 3400m2, o Exploratório assume-se como uma entidade de promoção de cultura científica para a Região Centro e para o país. Foi, em 1995, o primeiro centro de ciência a ser criado em Portugal, integrando a Rede de Centros Ciência Viva desde a sua criação, em 1998, e que hoje conta com mais de 20 unidades em todo o país. Em 2000 foi reconhecido como de Utilidade Pública.
Depois de ter passado pela Casa Municipal da Cultura, em instalações provisórias, o centro beneficiou de um edifício definitivo, erguido em 2009, e onde se encontram hoje as atuais instalações do Exploratório, no Parque Verde do Mondego. O ano de 2015 foi também um importante momento de viragem com a inauguração do novo pavilhão. Por outro lado, estando integrado na Rede de Centros Ciência Viva e gozando de uma relação privilegiada com a Universidade de Coimbra, com os diversos centros de investigação associados e com as demais instituições de ensino superior da cidade, o Exploratório tem firmado a sua atuação num conjunto de parcerias locais e regionais que o transformaram numa entidade de divulgação científica ao serviço da Região Centro, promovendo a literacia científica em todas as faixas etárias, para as diversas camadas sociais e em diferentes espaços territoriais.
É neste sentido que surgem os paradigmas sobre os quais assenta a atuação do Exploratório: Há Ciência para todos e levar a Ciência a todos. Considera-se que a Ciência deve estar ao dispor de todos, pelo que o Centro Ciência Viva de Coimbra é o local por excelência onde se encontram um conjunto de programas, atividades e ações direcionadas a diversos públicos. Proximidade e Igualdade são assim os conceitos em que o Exploratório baseia a sua abordagem. A par destes, destaca-se a Inovação, traduzida numa constante atualização de ofertas, conteúdos, atividades e projetos, que colocam a instituição a par com as suas congéneres internacionais.

A Cache:
Letterbox Híbrida: neste formato de cache, são publicadas na página, as coordenadas do ponto inicial e usam-se essencialmente dicas e pistas para as etapas seguintes, embora também existam modalidades em que se usam coordenadas. Assim, é possível ao geocacher recorrendo a tarefas, mapas ou simples pistas determinar uma localização, ou seja, uma autêntica espécie de caça ao tesouro. Este tipo de cache tem um carimbo no container final que é utilizado no livro de registo pessoal do geocacher.
Esta Letterbox Híbrida é constituída por 4 pontos e convida-vos a explorar alguns dos espaços do Exploratório - Centro Ciência Viva de Coimbra, em pleno Parque Verde do Mondego. A mesma inicia-se no exterior do Exploratório, passa pelo seu interior e termina novamente no exterior. Foi desenvolvida com imenso gosto e dedicação, estando relacionada com o local e sua temática. Encontrem-na e aproveitem para explorar e passear num sítio onde mais uma vez, Ciência e Geocaching se voltam a unir numa experiência única, rica e fascinante. 😊
Foi no recinto exterior do Exploratório, que existiu uma cache que ficará na história do Geocaching nacional, a Multi-cache dos míticos The_GeoGang, de seu nome: Exploratório (GC2QCZG). Assim, serve também este nosso projeto, para manter este local georreferenciado, prestar uma homenagem aos The_GeoGang e dar início a uma nova aventura. 😉
No Primeiro Ponto devem procurar um QRCode que vos vai levar até ao Segundo Ponto, onde será preciso “Sair da Casca”, continuando depois a viver a aventura no local. Após descerem as escadas e “Sair da Casca”, sigam em frente e dirijam-se à receção do Exploratório. Aí vão encontrar a “Caixa do Geocaching”, bem visível e devidamente identificada. Se na altura da vossa visita não estiver ninguém momentaneamente na receção, peço que aguardem um pouco ou deem uma voltinha ao espaço interior e exterior do Exploratório. Leiam bem o QRCode que se encontra dentro da caixa, pois tem instruções para resolver o puzzle que lá se encontra e não só... 😊

Instrusões e Dicas nos WayPoints e QRCodes!
Esta cache foi colocada no local com o conhecimento, colaboração e respetiva autorização dos responsáveis do Exploratório - Centro Ciência Viva de Coimbra, aos quais agradecemos os contactos, reuniões e visitas efetuadas para que tal fosse possível, especialmente um grande bem-haja a Catarina Reis (Direção), Ana Rita Paiva (Exposições) e António Maranha (Serviços Técnicos).
Como conteúdo inicial, o container final contém Lápis, Logbook, Stashnote, Carimbo e respetiva almofada de tinta, uma Woodcoin da CeiraGeoTeam e a oferta de Voucher gentilmente cedido pelo Exploratório, que vale uma visita ao mesmo. Permite a troca de brindes, TB’s, Geocoins, etc. As buscas devem ser discretas e atenção aos muggles dado ser um local movimentado. Peço ainda que deixem tudo bem escondidinho tal e qual como encontraram ou ainda melhor. Fechem bem o container e se acontecer alguma coisa com a cache ou em algum dos pontos desta Letterbox, peço que nos informem. A durabilidade da cache depende de todos! Fotos da cache, do interior e do cantinho onde se encontra serão apagadas (dado ser uma Letterbox Híbrida onde não são disponibilizadas inicialmente as coordenadas finais), de forma a manter a surpresa para os futuros geocachers que a procurem. Podem dar dicas mas sejam discretos nos comentários.
Algumas orientações e conselhos a terem na realização desta cache:
- Esta Letter deve ser realizada sem pressas, é necessário algum tempo para a resolverem na sua totalidade por isso, para conseguirem usufruir dela e do espaço, aconselhamos que venham com alguma disponibilidade;
- Não forcem nada (em nenhum ponto deste desafio), tentem perceber os diversos mecanismos e tenham cuidado ao manusear os containers. Esta Letterbox deu-nos muito trabalho a construir e requereu alguns gastos, por isso pedimos que tenham o máximo cuidado possível!;
- Devem ter um leitor/aplicação que leia QRCodes!;
- As coordenadas finais desta cache são disponibilizadas após completarem todas as etapas da Letterbox Híbrida “Exploratório – Ciência e Geocaching”;
- Devem deixar o carimbo e respectiva tinta dentro do container final! Não o levem nem o retirem!;

Esta é mais uma cache contruída e desenvolvida pela CeiraGeoTeam, a nossa primeira Letterbox Híbrida. Description:
Located in Coimbra, in a complex of two buildings with a total area of more than 3400m2, the Exploratory assumes itself as an entity for the promotion of scientific culture for the Central Region and for the country. It was, in 1995, the first science center to be created in Portugal, integrating the Ciência Viva Center Network since its creation, in 1998, and which today has more than 20 units throughout the country. In 2000 it was recognized as a Public Utility.
After having passed through the Municipal House of Culture, in temporary installations, the center benefited from a definitive building, erected in 2009, and where the current facilities of the Exploratory are located, in Parque Verde do Mondego. 2015 was also an important turning point with the inauguration of the new pavilion. On the other hand, being part of the Ciência Viva Center Network and enjoying a privileged relationship with the University of Coimbra, with the various associated research centers and with the other higher education institutions in the city, the Exploratory has established its operations in a set of local and regional partnerships that transformed it into an entity for the dissemination of science at the service of the Central Region, promoting scientific literacy in all age groups, for different social strata and in different territorial spaces.
It is in this sense that the paradigms on which the Exploratory operates are based: There is Science for all and to bring Science to all. It is considered that Science should be available to everyone, so the Ciência Viva de Coimbra Center is the place par excellence where a set of programs, activities and actions aimed at different audiences can be found. Proximity and Equality are the concepts on which Exploratory bases its approach. Alongside these, Innovation stands out, translated into a constant updating of offers, contents, activities and projects, which put the institution at par with its international counterparts.

This Hybrid Letterbox consists of 4 points and invites you to explore some of the spaces of the Exploratório - Centro Ciência Viva de Coimbra, in the heart of Parque Verde do Mondego. It begins outside the Exploratory, goes through its interior and ends again outside. It was developed with immense taste and dedication, being related to the place and its theme. Find it and take the opportunity to explore and stroll in a place where, once again, Science and Geocaching come together in a unique, rich and fascinating experience. 😊
It was in the outer enclosure of the Exploratory that there was a cache that will go down in the history of national Geocaching, the Multi-cache of the mythical The_GeoGang, named after itself: Exploratório. So, this project of ours also serves to keep this place georeferenced, pay tribute to The_GeoGang and start a new adventure. 😉
At the First Point, look for a QRCode that will take you to the Second Point, where you will need to “Leave the Cascade”, then continue to experience the adventure there. Don't forget that you must have your mobile data/internet connection connected to your mobile phone and installed on your Smartphone, Tablet, etc., an application that reads QRCodes. This cache was placed in place with the knowledge, collaboration and authorization of those responsible for the Exploratório - Centro Ciência Viva de Coimbra, to whom we thank for the contacts, meetings and visits made to make this possible, especially a great welcome to Catarina Reis (Management), Ana Rita Paiva (Exhibitions) and António Maranha (Technical Services).
As initial content, the final container contains Pencil, Logbook, Stashnote, Stamp and respective ink pad, a CeiraGeoTeam Woodcoin and the Voucher offer kindly provided by the Exploratório, which is worth a visit. Allows the exchange of gifts, TB's, Geocoins, etc. Searches should be discreet and watch out for muggles as it is a busy place. I also ask that you leave everything well hidden just as you found it or even better. Close the container well and if something happens with the cache or in any of the points of this Letterbox, please let us know. The durability of the cache depends on everyone! Photos of the cache, the interior and the corner where it is will be deleted (since it is a Hybrid Letterbox where the final coordinates are not initially available), in order to keep the surprise for future geocachers who look for it. You can give tips but be discreet in the comments.
Some guidelines and advice to have in the realization of this cache:
- This Letter should be carried out without haste, it takes some time to resolve it in its entirety so, in order to be able to enjoy it and the space, we advise you to come with some availability;
- Do not force anything (at any point in this challenge), try to understand the different mechanisms and be careful when handling containers. This Letterbox took a lot of work to build and required some expenses, so we ask you to be as careful as possible!;
- They must have a reader/application that reads QRCodes!;
- The final coordinates of this cache are available after completing all the stages of the Hybrid Letterbox “Exploratory – Science and Geocaching”;
- You must leave the stamp and ink inside the final container! Do not take it or remove it!;
- The online registration will only be validated after having found the paper logbook and having entered the log there. You can take pictures of your personal notebook after it has been stamped! 😊;

This is another cache built and developed by CeiraGeoTeam, our first Hybrid Letterbox. We are a couple of Geocachers, Tiago & Milene, from Ceira (a village in the municipality of Coimbra) but our caches go much further, going beyond the borders of our land… The challenge remains to hunt them all down.
