Geocache Description:

This series will take you to pieces of artwork, sculptures, murals or down right goofy things that I thought would be fun for people to take their pictures with.  I find that even though going to meet and greet events, that it is still hard to put faces to cacher names and thought that through these "selfies”, it would be a great way to get to know others in this hobby.  While a photo is not required, it would make this old rum addled barnacle encrusted octopus fart, a happy fellow if you included one.

This is another stop in this series for me. I happen to drive through the area on a regular bases and have admired this mural for awhile now.  The other day when it was below zero and a blanket of fresh snow I happened by and was struck by the juxapostion of the seasons. Or should I say the north and the south of our country. This mural was part of a Madison Public Art Project and the following information is from their website.

We were delighted to work with the artists Triangulador, Emily Balsley, Ray Mawst, and Brian Kehoe on this community project. The mural wall installation was a site specific design concept that was installed over the course of three days on the exterior wall of the local neighborhood laundromat. Together the artists had the opportunity to join forces to celebrating the gift of community. Paying homage to the beloved Madison “fill the hill” tradition, this artistic expression is filled with pops of vibrant colors, resonating pink and bright blue hues in an uplifting accolade to our “city bird” of Madison, the flamingo. Triangulador’s signature style provides the abstract blue swirls of connectivity along this sizeable 60ft wall. Located between Lake Mendota and Lake Monona, nearby to the heart of the downtown Capitol district, this exciting mural further showcases E. Johnson as the next up and coming Madison mural arts destination.

How could I not highlight this gem of the city? Please enjoy.

You don’t have to leave the sidewalk for this one, but it is a bit of a stretch.  If you are vertically challenged, just admit that in your log and don’t worry about signing the log.  This one was a bit of a stretch for me too.  Enjoy and as always, suggestions for other locations or feedback is appreciated.
