Geocache Description:

A series that will not only introduce you to some of the dog parks around the mornington peninsula but we will also be sharing some fun facts and information about a different breed of dog for every cache in the series! Although they are numbered they don't have to be done in order. We have also got our resident experts, Ebony (Gnome5580s geodog!) And Calypso (Beckgizs geodog!) Who will be giving each dog park a score of 1 to 5 paws depending on how much she approves of this park! 🐶 we hope you enjoy this series as much as Ebony and Calypso had testing each of these parks out 😉 and on that note here is their opinion of this park:

STORNOWAY DRIVE RESERVE:

This reserve is a small fully fenced off leash park hidden right along the Peninsula link trail in Baxter and is a nice quiet little spot to bring your furry friend. There is a picnic table and a few small trees but unfortunately there's not a lot of shade. This is a very small space but there's just the one seat and there is no water here either. There's also not a lot of space to park a car so be careful not to block any driveways when coming here! Ebony and Calypso rate this park 3 out of 5 paws! The breed we've chosen for this cache is the:

Australian Shepard:

The Australian Shepherd is a breed of herding dog from the United States. Developed in California in the 19th century, it is claimed the breed descends from a variety of herding breeds including collies imported into California alongside sheep imported from Australia, New Zealand, the breed taking its name from the former. Originally used solely as a herding dog it has now become one of the most popular dog breeds in every day Australian homes. This is a VERY energetic breed that requires a LOT of exercise so if youre thinking of adding one to your family think that you will need to provide a lot of exercise and stimulation to prevent your dog from being bored and becoming destructive. But this breed can make a great pet for couples or families that have high energy.

Life span: 13 – 15 years

Origin: Western United States

Temperament: Intelligent, Affectionate, Good-natured, Active, Protective

Height: Male: 51–58 cm, Female: 46–54 cm

Weight: Male: 25–32 kg, Female: 16–25 kg

The Australian Shepherd has a moderately long and wavy double coat that has a dense undercoat and coarse topcoat; the coat is short on the face and well feathered on the rear of the legs. The breed is known for its unique colorations and variable coat patterns, it being said no two dogs sharing a coat. The breed standard allows for blue merle, red merle, solid black or solid red, with or without white markings and with or without tan points.

Examples of the breed can be born with long or naturally bobbed (short) tails.

The Cache:

You are searching for a black film canister hidden just outside the park, please remember to use stealth and replace the cache so that it is hidden from any passing muggles. BYO pen! Have fun and happy hunting! 🤠
