G-KRBY is a Van’s RV-8 aircraft, completely built at his home by the owner. The build took 7 years and was completed in mid-2021. The aircraft was then transported by road to Seething airfield for final assembly, certification and testing.
It is painted to commemorate the Photographic Reconnaissance versions of the Spitfire, and includes D Day invasion stripes. The interior of the cockpit is also painted in a period colour scheme, and includes analogue instruments to continue the vintage feel of the aircraft, rather than the more modern glass cockpit.
This cache has been placed to celebrate the inaugural flight of this aircraft,at 1130 on 30th January 2022, from this airfield, and has been hidden by the owner’s daughter.
