A smartphone is required to complete this cache! Please read the details at the bottom of this page before setting off.
This is a high-tech multi-cache which uses a technology called NFC (Near Field Communication) to hide the coordinates for the final stage. An NFC tag stores data which can be read wirelessly when a smartphone is held against it.
The cache is placed on a peaceful stretch of the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal with a short, flat walk between stages. It takes about 30 minutes in total if you start at the car park. Please be aware of muggles/boat owners and take care to hide the cache well. The container is a small clip-lock box with space for a few swappables and trackables.
NFC scanning tips
You’ll need to scan an NFC tag at stage 1 to unlock the final coordinates. Most modern smartphones have this functionality built-in so you shouldn't need to download an app, but you may need to enable it on Android devices (look for an option to “enable NFC” in the settings app, usually under the "connections" menu). iPhone 6 and older are unfortunately not compatible.
To scan the tag, unlock your phone and go to the home screen. Then hold the top back part of your phone flat against the tag for a few seconds, and a popup should appear. Tap it to view the coordinates - you’ll need an internet connection at stage 1 to do this. It may help to remove your phone case while scanning.
