The Cache
This park is in our neighbourhood, and doesn’t have a geocache yet, so we thought it would be a great spot for my very first geocache! I’ve made it pretty easy for people to find. The biggest risk is muggles in the area – please use stealth mode. Also, please bring your own pen or pencil.
Background About Killarney
A bit about Killarney – also known as Killarney/Glengarry. Situated just southwest of downtown Calgary, the community of Killarney has a population of about 6,816 people. It was named after Glengarry County in Ontario for the place the first settlers to this area were from.
History
The community of Killarney was registered with the Alberta Land Titles office in 1906, the lands were formally annexed by the City of Calgary in 1910.
The community grew more following the Second World War, when developers built small stucco and clapboard bungalows on 25- and 50-foot lots. Since 2002, developers have been replacing these older structures with infill housing.
