Many years ago, this trail was an Olympic Bobsled course. Since our family owned the land, I was naturally the leader on "Team Basso." In the photo below, you can see me in the back of the sled. We just missed winning the Gold!
Anyway, my dad made me work long hours on the Basso Cabbage Farm, so after throwing a bunch of cabbages down the flume, I had to sneak off for the Olympic trials. Sometimes the sled went off course, throwing all the contestants down the ravine. That's how they decided who went to the Olympics.
WINNING TEAM!
Those were great days! In honor of this great history, our team placed a geocache nearby. Is it still there?
