Even though I have a B.S. in Mathematics (statistics and numerical analysis) I really suck at puzzles, but I can make them. As a septuagenarian I’m lucky I can spell septuagenarian without spellchecker let alone solve mathematics based puzzles. I have a M.S. in Computer Science and can’t code anymore either…back in my day our mainframe was a DEC PDP-11 that booted from paper tape.
The cache is named what it is for few reasons. First, around this area CherokeeThree is famous for not only his caching streak, 1,995 days the last the time I checked, but he commonly is the FTF around this area. Secondly his name includes the word three. Then of course it is because the puzzle is based upon an equilateral triangle.
If you look at the below reference points, they are the vertices of an equilateral triangle. All you have to is find the center of the triangle (center of mass); that’s where you’ll find the cache. There’s no way I could figure out this out the using the math that I no longer remember, because it involves one of the two fields of math I hated: trigonometry. The other horrible field was advanced differential equations. If you're not a math wiz you might find some help at the Geocaching Toolbox.
