Given that the Australian 2016 census indicates that No Religion and Jedi Knight are the fastest increasing classifications of the optional religion question "What is the person's religion?" it is not surprising that there is surfeit of empty churches that have been repurposed.
Adelaide, Grote Street. This hall was constructed in 1915 as a mission hall for Seventh Day Adventist Church. In 1931 the building become the meeting hall of the South Australian Federated Liquor & Allied Trades Employees’ Union Headquarters, which appears at the top of the building. For many years the hall was known as the Promethean Theatre and was a home to jazz, fringe, cabaret and theatre performances. In later times it was named Union Hall and operated as a performing arts centre. Currently known as Diverse City. By day a cafe. By night an entertainment venue.
