Looks like the weather is going to be great for a CITO!!! Every year Lake Logan Martin has a "Clean the Lake Day". This is done at this time because the lake water is down between 5-6 feet. It is easier to pick up the trash along the lake shore. We also want to pick it up before the flood waters carry it down stream.
Just in case anyone is interested....there will be a breakfast from 7-10:30 this morning at the New London Volunteer Fire dept with the proceeds going to the fire dept. They serve scrambled eggs, grits, hash browns, bacon, link sausage, patty sausage, biscuits and gravy and pancakes. You can get whatever of that you want for $10! It is YUM YUM!!! The fire dept is located just as you turn off hwy 231 onto Logan Martin Dam Road about 2 miles before you get to the park. You can eat there or take it with you.
This park has lots to offer. Fishing docks, playground, swimming area, numerous trails and, of course, the "Red Neck Riviera", where you will find the floating Red Neck Yacht Club on the weekends during the summer months!
There is always a beautiful view of the lake, no matter what the weather is doing!!!
We will meet in the lower parking lot at 0930 and will gather as much trash as possible until 1100. Please bring your gloves, grabbers and a 5 gallon bucket (if you have one). The bucket makes containing your trash easier. I will have water, bags, treats and hand wipes.
Logan Martin is a 17,000-acre lake that was built in 1965 by Alabama Power. It has 275 miles of shoreline and a length of 48.5-mile from Logan Marting Dam on the south and Neely Henry Dam to the north. The depth of the lake is 35 to 110 feet. It is a popular lake for fishing tournaments, sailing and pleasure boating for skiers and sunset seekers. Many Canadian geese, sea gulls and pelicans migrate here in the Winter where they find the fish plentiful and safe waters until they head back North for the Summer. In the Summer months, the lake is full of families enjoying the cool water along with numerous water activities.
