Il torrente Ravella, che dà il nome alla valle, nasce a circa 1000 metri di quota sotto la Colma omonima; ha scavato profondamente il suo alveo e scorre incassato fra ripidi versanti fino a Canzo, prima di gettarsi nel Lambro; sulla destra orografica rimangono notevoli terrazzi morenici sui quali anticamente furono costruite le tre“Alpi”. Infatti fino alla fine degli anni‘50 del secolo scorso nella Val Ravella risiedevano numerose famiglie dedite all’agricoltura e all’allevamento del bestiame, come si può rilevare dalla presenza di fabbricati rurali a Prim’Alpe (detta anche Alpe Grasso per l’abbondanza dei foraggi), Terz’Alpe (Alpe Piotti) e di ruderi in località Second’Alpe (Alpe Betulli o Alpe del Sole, perché ben esposta), nonché Alpe Alto e Alpetto (sul versante del Monte Cornizzolo).
La cache si trova in prossimità del salto di dislivello del torrente vicino al ponte. Per raggiungerla bisogna scendere oltre il parapetto e cercare il cavo marrone. Non é pericoloso, ma occorre fare attenzione. Riposizionare correttamente.
The Ravella stream, which gives its name to the valley, originates at about 1000 meters above sea level under the Colma of the same name; it has deeply dug its bed and flows embedded between steep slopes as far as Canzo, before throwing itself into the Lambro; on the orographic right there are notable morainic terraces on which the three “Alps” were built in ancient times. In fact, up to the end of the 50s of the last century, numerous families dedicated to agriculture and cattle breeding lived in Val Ravella, as can be seen from the presence of rural buildings in Prim'Alpe (also called Alpe Grasso for its abundance dei foraggi), Terz'Alpe (Alpe Piotti) and ruins in Second'Alpe (Alpe Betulli or Alpe del Sole, because it is well exposed), as well as Alpe Alto and Alpetto (on the side of Monte Cornizzolo).
The cache is located near the vertical drop of the stream near the bridge. To reach it you have to go down over the parapet and look for the brown cable. It is not dangerous, but you need to be careful. Please reposition correctly.
