Geocache Description:

THE CACHE IS NOT AT THE POSTED COORDINATES.

You’ll need to solve a little puzzle to get the cache’s location, but don’t worry, it shouldn’t be too difficult. More on that in a bit.

I’m sure all of you are familiar with the classic toy, the Rubik’s Cube. Many of you have probably played around with it, and I’m sure there are some of you out there who can even solve it.

The Rubik’s Cube was invented in 1974 by Hungarian sculptor and professor of architecture, Erno Rubik. It was originally called the “Magic Cube,” and it wasn’t until 1980 that it was licensed by Rubik. It won the 1980 German Game of the Year award for best puzzle. Over 450 million Rubik’s Cubes have been sold, making it the bestselling toy in the world.

Speedcubing (or speedsolving) is the practice of trying to solve a Rubik's Cube in the shortest time possible. Cubers from around the world have been competing with one another for over 30 years to quickly solve the cube. Over the years, the world record for speedsolving the Rubik’s Cube has been whittled down to a mere number of seconds, an unbelievable feat that takes hundreds of hours of practice. That’s where this puzzle (and your fun) begins.

Your job is to determine what the current official world record (as of November 2018) is for speedsolving the 3x3 Rubik’s Cube (and don’t be alarmed, it’s pretty unbelievable). You should have a 3-digit number.

Take that 3-digit number (without the decimal point) and divide it by the first digit. Take the last digit (from the original three) less one, and subtract it from your quotient. Take this number (don't forget to round) and add it to the posted north coordinates.

Starting with the original 3-digit number, add the three digits together. Take the second digit (again, from the original three) plus one, and subtract it from the sum. Take this number and add it to the posted west coordinates.

With this information, you’re ready to find the cache. Note: There is no need to remove it from its hiding place to retrieve the log. Good luck, be safe, and have fun!
