Geocache Description:

A statue of Mahatma Gandhi is located outside of Bellevue's downtown library and was given to the city by India, recognizing the link created by the number of Indians who have moved to Bellevue and made it their home.  It was dedicated on October 17, 2009 by H.E. Ms. Meera Shanker, Ambassador of India to the United States of America.

According to Wikipedia, "Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (2 October 1869 – 30 January 1948), popularly known as Mahatma Gandhi, was an Indian revolutionary, anti-colonial nationalist, and political ethicist who employed nonviolent resistance to lead the successful campaign for India's independence from British rule and later inspire movements for civil rights and freedom across the world."

Depending on when you visit, the statue may be lovingly decorated.  It depicts Gandhi striding forward, a staff in the right hand, as a symbol of the quest for liberty and freedom through peaceful means.
