Geocache Description:

Laura Bradley Park has given Peoria an escape into nature for more than 100 years. This large park, located adjacent to Bradley University, was established in the late 19th century, given to the city of Peoria by Lydia Moss Bradley in memory of her daughter Laura Bradley, who died in 1864 at the age of 14. Much of the appeal of this public place remains the same today, including a high-bluff woodland landscape and thriving riparian corridor. It historically contained a wading pool for children and flower gardens.

The park traverses a high bluff woodland that grades down into the floodplain of Dry Run Creek. Along with numerous picnic sites, the park also features a scenic Japanese bridge spanning the creek, alongside an ornamental shelter surrounded by colorful landscaping. The roads through Bradley Park provide paved, but not so level hiking opportunities.

Surrounding the natural features of the park, amenities like playground equipment, picnic spaces, and baseball fields appeal to the whole family. The Bradley Park disc golf course is one of the more popular in the area, and the off-leash dog park is a favorite among pet owners. Corn Stock Theatre, a long standing local performing arts theater, is located on the park property, offering outdoor and indoor shows year round.

The park is open from dawn to dusk every day of the year. Thanks to the Peoria Park District for permission to place this cache.

To Log This Virtual Cache:

  • Email/message me the answers to the following questions within three days (72 hours) of your find log. DO NOT POST ANSWERS IN YOUR LOG OR ONLINE.
    1. The coordinates are located at a specific structure. What type of structure is it? I am looking for a very specific description here, as in the country or region this structure might be indigenous to. A one word answer will be rejected.
    2. Parts of this structure are painted with two colors that you would find on a primary color wheel in art. What are the two colors?
    3. Take a walk across the structure from end to end, and determine the approximate length. What is that length (in feet)?
  • OPTIONAL: Post a photo of yourself and GPS-enabled device at the park (please do NOT include the structure in the photo). This picture is optional, but helps me verify your visit and is much appreciated.

If these requirements are not met, your log will be deleted.

Happy caching!
