Geocache Description:

English

Hellehøj is one of Denmark's highest hills.
Here at the top of the hill, you can enjoy the fantastic view all the 360 degrees.
A magnificent view over the sea with boats heading out into the world.
To the North you can see Tannis Bay and can follow the coastline up towards Skagen.
To the South you can see the town Hjørring and its tall buildings etc.
To the West you can see Rubjerg Knude's high sand dunes over all the green nature.
To the Northwest you can see the small town of Horne.
As the nearest areas are sparsely wooded, the undulating contours of the landscape stand out nicely.

Hellehøj (89 m above sea level) is a Bronze Age burial mound (c. 1800 BC) built on a moraine hill from the Ice Age. The burial mound is heavily diminished due to excavation. It is believed to have been 4 m high and 18 m across. Hellehøj was protected in 1972.
In Denmark there are 330 Trigonometric Stations on well-chosen high points.
At each station there is a pedestal about 1 m high, usually made of granite, but it can also be made of brick. In many places the granite stone is inside the masonry and the top is visible directly or through two holes. The pedestal is firmly placed in a concrete foundation.

A metal button is cast on the top, indicating the exact position and location of the measuring instrument. They form fixed points in a grid of triangles used for surveying the land and subsequent map drawing.

Logging requirements:
Somewhere on the " Postament" you will see a carved year.
Send an email to: ????virtual@gmail.com where you replace: ???? with the year.
