Welcome to the Alvord Desert
During the summer you may see aproximately a 12 mile x 7 mile dry lake bed. During the winter months the lake has some water so no driving out to the corrdinates provide.
SE Oregon is one of my favorite spots in Oregon. A friend of mine several years ago first brought me to this area and I keep coming back. If you have time head up to the Steens a true gem for Oregon. In good weather the lack of nearby cities means some of the best areas I know of for star gazing and seeing the Milky Way. Though this year we encountered ~50 mph winds and dozen dust devils, needless to say we camped elsewhere.
Please be safe with driving on the dry lakebed or venturing into the trails nearby.
I hope you enjoy as much as we do as this area can definately be a bit extreme.

To Log this cache you will need to upload two pictures that prove you were actually there. So changing the picture requirements.
1) Summer: If the lake bed is dry.
- Picture proving you are there now. Hold up a piece of paper with your caching name while on the lake bed or holding up your gpsr or phone. If you don't want to be in the picture that is fine.
- Picture number two any fun picture taken while there you wish to share. These are for me I enjoy them thanks!
2) Winter: If the lake bed has water (DO NOT GO IN, don't want to feel responsible if you get stuck)
- Picture at the entry point with the lake in the back ground Holding a sign proving you were there caching.
- Fun picture with your party/vehicle/or scenery what ever you wish to commererate your trip here with.
