Gruvans historia går tillbaka till mitten av 1600-talet. Gruvan ligger på ett berg som består av hälleflintgneis med övergångar till grå och svart hälleflinta. Malmen beskrivs som fattig, men tillgången stor och brytningen enkel. Gruvan är 90 meter djup.
The history of the mine dates back to the middle of the 16th century. The mine is located on a mountain consisting of halibut gneiss with transitions to gray and black halibut. The ore is described as poor, but the supply is large and the mining is easy. The mine is 90 meters deep.
Genom århundradena gick det upp och ner för järnbrytningen men natten den 17 juni 1875 inträffade ett ras. Då hade gruvan drivits hårt under några år och säkerheten satts åt sidan. Lyckligtvis omkom inga gruvarbetare, men raset blev slutet för gruvan.
Through the centuries it went up and down for the iron mining but the night of June 17, 1875 a race occurred. By then, the mine had been operating hard for a few years and safety had been set aside. Fortunately, no miners died, but the landslide ended for the mine.

Tänk på att ha oömma kläder och bra, vattentäta skor samt ficklampa. Det går att gå upprätt i gruvgången men det är trångt.
Remember to wear soft clothes and good, waterproof shoes and a flashlight. It is possible to walk upright in the mine tunnel, but it is crowded.

Det här är Geocaching när det är som bäst. Passa även på att gå upp på berget och se mera rester av den gamla gruvverksamheten samt njut av den vackra ut sikten.
At this place we logged one of our first Caches when we started with Geocaching in May 2013, (Cache GC6F38 Darknes awaits you). This is one of the coolest places we have visited. This is Geocaching at its best. Also take the opportunity to go up the mountain and see more remnants of the old mining business and enjoy the beautiful view.
Varning:
Det här är en gammal gruva så var försiktig, lämna aldrig barn utan uppsikt och försök inte dyka eller simma i vattnet det kan finnas krokar av järn i berget under vattenytan som man kan fastna i.
