Geocache Description:

The posted coordinates will bring you to Transistor Water Tower, which is located near the Crawfords Corner Road Entrance of Bell Works (formerly Bell Labs).  This structure was modeled after the design for a early transistor developed in 1947 by three Bell Labs researchers and commemorates the breakthrough that was their invention of this technology on this site.  The trio of reasearchers - John Bardeen, Walter Brattain, and William Shockley - would ultimately go on to win the Nobel Prize in physics for their work in this discipline and help cement Bell Labs as a hub of technological innovation and scientific advancement from 1962 through 2007.

Transistor Water Tower itself is 60 feet tall and supported by three pillars that rest on a circular base.  To receive credit for this virtual cache, please send me a message with the total number of light fixtures around the circumference of the circular base.  Feel free to post pictures of the water tower with your logs, but please refrain from posting any spoiler pics or logs.

The first set of parking coordinates will bring you to a pull-off on Bell Laboratories Road fairly close to Transistor Water Tower.  If you see two sections of wooden guardrail, you're in the right spot.  The second set of parking coordinates are for the closest Bell Works visitors lot.  Park here if you're more comfortable doing so or would like to venture inside Bell Works.  The walk to the water tower from there is a little over half a mile, but should be a pleasant one on a nice day.

Enjoy!
