ITA: Il Parco di Monte Catalfano, poco distante dall’abitato di Bagheria, si estende su una superficie di circa 300 ettari. Il complesso montuoso comprende, da ovest ad est, il Monte d'Aspra (Monte Irice, Cozzo San Pietro e Cozzo Tondo), Monte Catalfano (Monte Catalfano e Cavallo di Mezzo) e Monte Città, sede dell’antica città punica di Solunto. I diversi sentieri che troviamo permettono di ammirare le bellezze paesaggistiche e naturalistiche di Monte Catalfano. Dai panorami mozzafiato sul Golfo di Palermo è possibile visitare le falesie verticali della Vignazza, un’ampia area ad anfiteatro dove ritroviamo grotte di origine marina, alcune delle quali conservano ancora la testimonianza di una frequentazione da parte dell’uomo preistorico.
Di particolare bellezza è la flora di monte Catalfano. Si alternano zone rimboschite a zone in cui troviamo tutte le piante tipiche della macchia mediterranea, il lentisco , la palma nana, l’euforbia dendroides, l’erica, il cisto e, se non bastasse, durante il periodo primaverile ad impreziosire il tutto ci pensano le bellissime fioriture di orchidee, alcune delle quali endemiche. Per quanto riguarda l’avifauna trovano il loro habitat il falco pellegrino, il gheppio, il passero solitario, il saltimpalo. I mammiferi sono rappresentati dalla volpe, il coniglio selvatico, la donnola e il riccio. Tra i rettili troviamo la lucertola campestre e il biacco.
Il punto trigonometrico, 376 metri sul livello del mare, è il punto più alto di tutto il complesso di Monte Catalfano, da dove si può godere di una vista mozzafiato su tutta la costa che va da Capo Gallo (Palermo) fino a Cefalù. Per giungere al punto trigonometrico ti basterà seguire il sentiero e/o la strada indicata.

Per loggare questa cache devi recarti in cima a Monte Catalfano, sul più alto, e scattare una foto di te (anche senza inquadrare la faccia ma in tal caso con orologio e/o gps) da allegare il al log e individuare almeno cinque paesi, indicandone il nome in un messaggio privato (non nel log, per favore).
ENG: The Monte Catalfano Park, not far from the town of Bagheria, covers an area of about 300 hectares. The mountain complex includes, from west to east, Monte d'Aspra (Monte Irice, Cozzo San Pietro and Cozzo Tondo), Monte Catalfano (Monte Catalfano and Cavallo di Mezzo) and Monte Città, site of the ancient Punic city of Solunto. The different paths that we find allow you to admire the landscape and naturalistic beauties of Monte Catalfano. From the breathtaking views over the Gulf of Palermo it is possible to visit the vertical cliffs of Vignazza, a large amphitheater area where we find caves of marine origin, some of which still retain evidence of a prehistoric human presence.
Of particular beauty is the flora of Monte Catalfano. Reforested areas alternate with areas where we find all the typical plants of the Mediterranean maquis, the mastic tree, the dwarf palm, the euphorbia dendroides, the heather, the cistus and, if that were not enough, during the spring period to embellish the whole think the beautiful orchid blooms, some of which are endemic. As for the avifauna, the peregrine falcon, the kestrel, the solitary sparrow, the stonechat find their habitat. Mammals are represented by the fox, the wild rabbit, the weasel and the hedgehog. Among the reptiles we find the field lizard and the rat snake.
The trigonometric point, 376 meters above sea level, is the highest point of the entire Monte Catalfano complex, from where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the entire coast from Capo Gallo (Palermo) to Cefalù. To reach the trigonometric point, just follow the indicated path and/or road.
To log this cache you must go to the top of Monte Catalfano, the highest, and take a photo of yourself (even without framing the face but in this case with a watch and/or gps) to attach to the log and identify at least five towns or villages, indicating its name in a private message (not in the log, please).
