Join in an opportunity to improve the trails within Wildwood Regional Park and earn the first CITO souvenir of the year


This year's event: Join us in improving trails and repairing erosion on trails in Wildwood Regional Park (928 W Avenida de los Arboles, Thousand Oaks, CA). Meet at the parking coordinates, in the inner parking lot, where you sign in, the CITO coordinates are on the way to the parking area.

Work will be followed by the volunteer thank you lunch courtesy of the COSCA Rangers, along with a drawing for prizes.
Of course, for this CITO event, certain areas may be assigned to Geocachers for repair and improvement, and we will need to hike to the work site, do the trail maintenance, and hike back to the picnic area. Assignments will be made day of the event, depending on the number of signups.

Schedule
7:30 a.m.: Meet in the parking lot and check-in at the registration table there. Complete and sign a Liability Release form, and receive your breakfast bag,
8:00 a.m. – noon Trail Work Orientation and safety instructions
Tools distributed
Trail Crew Leaders will direct you to your work site
12:00 - 1:00 p.m.Lunch and drinks will be provided, courtesy of COSCA rangers, along with a drawing for prizes - must be present to win.

Information

  • Fall trailwork dayThe trail building site where workers will hike as much as a mile in & a mile out with maybe 100’ gain/loss.
  • Water will be available at the sign-in area. Be sure to bring a water bottle and fill up before going to your work site.
  • Toilets will be available at the registration site and not at the work sites. Please use the facilities before proceeding to your project area.
  • Wear protective clothing & eyewear, sturdy shoes, gloves, hat and sunscreen. Do not bring your own tools – tools will be provided.
  • No experience is necessary. Instructions on trail building, and the safe and proper use of tools/equipment will be given.
  • Beware of poison oak, ticks and rattlesnakes. Check with a ranger or trail crew leader if you need assistance with identification.
  • Follow the directions of the park rangers and trail crew leaders at all times. They are trained for trail projects.
  • If you or someone in your work group needs medical attention, contact a ranger or your trail crew leader.
