Geocache Description:

General information about this series:

All caches in this series are letterbox hybrid caches where following a set of instructions will take you to the container.  No caches are hidden at posted.  Although there are many places to park in SGL 33, we have listed one parking area - see additional waypoints.  This parking area is available year-round and is not gated.  There are many grass pull off parking areas along Sandy Ridge Trail Road (SRTR) that are nearly inaccessible when there is snow on the ground.  Even when there is no snow, a high clearance vehicle is recommended if you intend to use them.

Because this is a State Game Land, please wear orange.

25 of the 26 containers are large camoed pill bottles.  1 of the containers is an ammo can with a large logbook.  There are no writing utensils in any of the caches, so please bring your own – sorry, we forgot to put one in the ammo can.  If you wish to leave your stamp impression, please only leave it on the logbook in the ammo can as the other logbooks are too small.

Inside each pill bottle is a smaller pill bottle like container holding the log.  The stamp for each cache is glued to the lid of the of the container holding the logbook.  Please do not take the stamp or the lid.  If you wish to take/leave an impression, you will need to bring your own stamp pad.

The pill bottles have very limited room, so please only leave/trade swag and TBs in the ammo can.  Only the ammo can has a FTF prize.

For the purposes of this series, a pace is a step with your right foot and then a step with your left foot.  One pace is about 60 inches.

Some of the directions include locating/viewing a culvert.  These culverts are black corrugated pipes running under SRTR.  Most are marked by two (some only have one) metal stakes - one on each side of SRTR.  These stakes have the top 6 inches painted orange.

One of the methods to finding each cache is to go to the starting location described and project a waypoint using the distance and bearing listed on the individual cache pages.  The starting location is the same for all caches.  Another method is to follow the letterbox style directions on each cache page.  Both will take you to the same location.

All caches are located less than 20 paces off SRTR.

Distance/Bearing method:

After turning onto the driveway that leads to the provided parking coordinates, look left.  You will eventually come to a tree with two diagonal paint marks.  That is the starting location to project your waypoint.

Distance: 10,182  Feet
Bearing: 31°

Letterboxing Directions:

After parking, walk southeast, following the driveway for about 80 paces.  That should bring you to SRTR.  Turn left and walk about 2,070 paces along SRTR.  Look to your left and you should see a birch tree about 10 inches in diameter.  This tree is about 8 feet off SRTR.  Look to the west of the birch and you will see a multi trunk tree about 25 feet off SRTR.  Search there.

Please return everything as found and enjoy your adventure.

Congratulations to Carels on the FTF!!
