IMPORTANT: Please help our host plan adequately for this event by signing in through the associated meetup site here: DNV meetup This will allow the host to keep track of how many participants there will be to ensure there is enough work to keep us all busy!
As usual, please log your 'Will Attend' here on the cache page if you plan to participate. If your plans change please edit your original log to a 'write note' or delete it, if you prefer, as this will help us keep track of the attendance and keep it accurate. Thank You!
This CITO event is being held in conjunction with the District of North Vancouver's Natural Parkland Volunteer Team. Our task will be to assist in the removal of invasive species that are trying to return to an area that used to home to a massive Himalayan Blackberry forest. We will be working alongside community volunteers to help with the removal of root debris and general area cleanup to prepare for future planting of native species.
Tools will be provided but please bring your own gloves NOTE: leather gloves are highly recommended - blackberry vines can be nasty! Dress appropriately for the weather and bring a reusable water bottle. (The CO will have a limited quantity of spare water available for refills)
All attendees will receive a Geocaching CITO Souvenir for participating in this event.
You DO NOT need to attend this event for its entire duration in order to receive your souvenir. You can leave early or arrive late as is convenient for your schedule. Half an hour would be fine if that's all you can spare, an hour would be great, two hours would be amazing! Do what works for you.
****Special Note: If you arrive after 10am please check in with Gary (Highlander 71), Andy, or Brad to get a brief safety update and intro before starting.
