Greetings and Happy Spring, fellow geocachers,
This is a new and different type of family-friendly CITO event! Join us as we collaborate with the Milwaukee Riverkeeper organization during their 27th Annual Spring Cleanup.  Â
We are fortunate to have beautiful waterways flowing throughout our neighborhoods and communities. Riverbanks and parkways have provided wonderful hiding spots for many of our urban geocaches. Some cachers also fish, swim, and paddle in these waterways. Spring is the perfect time to collect the garbage and litter that has accumulated during the winter months.Â
For this event with safety in mind, Riverkeeper REQUIRES that you register online and sign their waiver. In previous years, HiloSkittyandTomCat have participated in this event through TomCat's place of employment. The experiences have always been positive and rewarding.Â
Once you arrive at the site, a Riverkeeper site captain will check you in and ask you brief COVID screening questions. CITO geocachers will have their own check in area near the Riverkeeper station. Look for a CITO sign at the geocachers' meeting area. Arrive EARLY to secure a parking spot and to avoid the rush of other Riverkeeper volunteers. HiloSkittynTomCat will arrive between 8:15 and 8:30 to begin set-up and CITO check-in at the Menomonee River Parkway and North Avenue location. Â

FREE Riverkeeper tee shirts, gloves, garbage bags, and garbage collection will be provided by Riverkeeper. You may want to wear waterproof shoes/boots, a hat, sunscreen, water bottle, and bring a CITO TOTT.
If you wish to pack along a brown bag lunch, you are welcomed to sit and relax with us following our arduous morning of river clean up! We will meet back at the CITO check-in area around 12:30.Â
Thank you for your participation! We are delighted to have you join us! Happy caching and happy CITOing!
