Geocache Description:

This multi will take you to the site of Decou House, home of Captain John Decou. The plaque at stage one will help explain the cache name!

Decou House was Laura Secord's destination when she walked 32 kilometres from her home in Queenston to reach Lieutenant Fitzgibbon to warn him the Americans were planning to attack his outpost. During the War of 1812 the house was used as a store and garrison for British troops. General Brock was a regular visitor.

The house burned down while unoccupied in 1950. It has since been designated a historical monument under the Ontario Heritage Act.
